New Orleans Take Out on Fordem
Ald. Marsha Rummel is apparently free to once again enjoy one of her favorite restaurants.
Isthmus reported Thursday that John Roussos had barred Rummel from eating at New Orleans Take Out on Fordem Avenue because she voted for the plan to add bike lanes to North Sherman Avenue and turn it from a four-lane street to two-lane road. But Roussos soon had a change of heart and apologized to Rummel later that day in an email.
"What a stupid thing to do," Roussos wrote. "I felt threatened and under attack, once again, by the city. You represented the city to me and I reacted poorly. I don't know what the answers are to this city's problems but I do know that you are not responsible for them. I am sorry for the hurt that I caused you. When you can forgive me, I want to tell you how sorry I am."
Rummel could not be reached immediately for comment.
Roussos has said that potential customers will avoid the area because the loss of car lanes on North Sherman Avenue will increase traffic congestion.
