Arboretum neighbors up and Badger Herald down

UP Arboretum neighbors. Residents of a tiny neighborhood near Lake Wingra win their battle to block a developer from building two new houses and expanding a third. The Dane County Board of Adjustment, overturning an earlier ruling, decides the land is subject to state regulations against building on substandard shoreland lots. Developer Darren Kittleson, who paid $900,000 for the land, could sue.

DOWN: Badger Herald. The UW-Madison student newspaper ousts its state editor, Dan Powell, after discovering that he plagiarized 10 stories. Powell lifted material from the Wisconsin State Journal, Associated Press and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Powell allegedly told editors he cribbed copy because his sources were not calling him back.
