Residency Requirements

A 28-consecutive-day residency requirement is in effect in Wisconsin, wherein the voter needs to have lived at the stated address for that period of time before being able to vote in that district. This is up from 10 days. voting
Obtaining a Wisconsin Photo ID

Any Wisconsin resident who does not hold a valid driver's license from Wisconsin or another jurisdiction may request a photo ID. There is no age limit to apply for an ID card. When applying, it will be necessary to provide: proof of name and date of birth, for example, a certified U.S. birth certificate, valid passport or certificate of naturalization; proof of identity (usually a document with a signature or photo); proof of Wisconsin residency such as a pay stub, utility bill, mortgage or bank statement (see more at; proof of U.S. citizenship, legal permanent resident status, legal conditional resident status or legal temporary visitor status; your Social Security number. voting
Voter Registration, City of Madison

Voter registration is held in the city clerk's office, Rm. 103 of the City-County Building, 8 am-4:30 pm, Mon.-Fri.; city of Madison libraries, by mail, or at polls with proper ID. Registration is open until 5 pm 20 days before an election. During open registration, city of Madison residents may register to vote at any Madison Public Library or in the City Clerk's Office. No proof of residence is needed during open registration. After open registration closes at 5 pm 20 days before an election, you may only register to vote in the City Clerk's Office with proof of residence (i.e.,closed registration), until the Clerk's Office closes for business the Friday before the election. State law now prohibits voter registration the Saturday, Sunday and Monday before an election, but voters may still register at the polls on Election Day.
