Based on Norman Brooks play Fragile Fox, this is one of the most exciting of all the W.W.II movies. A commander of almost pathological cowardice - Captain Cooney, brilliantly portrayed by Eddie Albert, always falls apart under fire, and is a captain for no better reason than that his father is wealthy and politically well fixed. Opposing Cooney is a working-class G.I. named Costa, who bitterly informs his superior that if he plays the "gutless wonder" just one more time, he will come back and kill him. Costa isn't kidding. This movie will blast you right out of your seat.
