Rated: NR
Now Playing? No
Going the Distance
Released: 2010
Rated: R
Now Playing? No
Drew Barrymore and Justin Long star in a wan romantic comedy about the difficulties of a long-distance relationship. It touches on every cliché in the handbook, with lots of superfluous vulgarity. (M.B.)
Going Upriver: The Long War of John Kerry
Released: 2004
Rated: PG-13
Now Playing? No
A glorified campaign ad, this documentary attempts to refute the dubious claims of the Swiftboat Veterans
Gold
Released: 1974
Rated:
Now Playing? No
Derring-do in South Africa, with the fate of the world diamond market in the balance. Better than most of Moore's "007" outings.
Gold Diggers of 1933
Released: 1933
Rated: NR
Now Playing? Yes
Not much of a movie, apart from a brace of typically grandiose, typically crazed Busby Berkeley routines, but those are enough to keep it entertaining. (M.W.)
Gold Diggers of 1935
Released: 1935
Rated:
Now Playing? No
The only one of the "Gold Diggers" directed from start to finish by that pixillated terpsichorean genius, that Hieronymus Bosch of boogie-woogie, Busby Berkeley. Variable...but the last number, "Lullaby of Broadway" is fantastic. (M.W.)
Gold Diggers of 1937
Released: 1936
Rated:
Now Playing? No
More platinum showgirls, ludicrous stage-door Johnny's and dimpled male ingenues with warbling vibratos, plus more dancing cameras and crazed grandeur from choreographer deluxe Busby Berkeley. All that's missing is a little inept tap-dancing by lovable log-thighed Ruby Keeler.
Golden Boy
Released: 1939
Rated:
Now Playing? No
A weird mixture: Clifford Odets' fiery proletarian drama about the slum violin prodigy who becomes a prizefighter as interpreted by Rouben Mamoulian; a specialist in highly stylized musical comedies. It doesn't work, of course, but there's something endearingly anachronistic about it anyway.
Golden Door
Released: 2006
Rated: PG-13
Now Playing? No
A turn-of-the-century Italian family suffers a series of humiliations upon entering the U.S. via Ellis Island. This is a sweet film at heart, playing witness to the birth pangs of modern America with the occasional comic grace note. (M.S.)
Golden Earrings
Released: 1947
Rated:
Now Playing? No
World War II espionage among the gypsies. Silly but smooth, with a bizarre appearance by foreign correspondent Quentin Reynolds. (M.W.)

Gomorrah
Released: 2008
Rated: R
Now Playing? No
Overlapping stories explore the toll organized crime takes on Campania, the region in southern Italy. This devastating, astonishing work alternates scenes of dread with moments of quick, almost surgically precise brutality. (K.B.)
Gone
Released: 2012
Rated: PG-13
Now Playing? No
A girl (Amanda Seyfried) claiming to be the victim of a serial abductor springs to the rescue when her sister goes missing. Seyfried acquits herself admirably in hysterical mode, but the film is criminally bland. (M.S.)
Gone Baby Gone
Released: 2007
Rated: R
Now Playing? No
A private investigator (Casey Affleck) searches for a missing 4-year-old in Ben Affleck's solid feature directing debut. The film is strong on atmospherics and moral quandaries. (M.B.)
Gone in 60 Seconds
Released:
Rated: PG-13

The guy was going so damn fast, weaving in and out of traffic, that my eyes were riveted to the screen.
Gone with the Pope

Rated: NR

Gone With the Wind
Released: 1939
Rated: G

Epic Civil War drama focuses on the life of petulant southern belle Scarlett O'Hara (Vivien Leigh). Starting with her idyllic on a sprawling plantation, the film traces her survival through the tragic history of the South during the Civil War and Reconstruction, and her tangled love affairs with Ashley Wilkes (Leslie Howard) and Rhett Butler (Clark Gable). (TMS)
Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson
Released: 2008
Rated: R
Now Playing? No
Alex Gibney's documentary about the pill-popping, paradigm-smashing Rolling Stone scribe is extremely thorough, extremely conscientious and a hell of a lot of fun. Gibney has accumulated so much footage that there's a danger of sensory overload, but isn't that exactly what Thompson was all about, portraying American life as a hallucinatory episode? (K.W.)
Good Boy!
Released: 2003
Rated: PG
Now Playing? No
Good Burger
Released: 1997
Rated: PG
Now Playing? No
In Nickelodeon's enjoyable first feature film, teenage fast-food workers defend the title's burger stand against the evil plans of a new rival store. While the movie offers a predictable array of junior high jokes and food gags, leads Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell of Nick's "All That" series lend an irresistibly goofy, Martin-and-Lewis charm to the whole thing. Good Burger almost derails after an unexpected bit of mild violence and a bizarre and tasteless sequence set in an insane asylum, but regains its proper sophomoric tone by the end. (D.K.)
Good bye, Lenin!
Released: 2003
Rated: R

A comedy about Germany's unlikely nostalgia for communism
Good Luck Chuck
Released: 2007
Rated: R

A curse renders Dane Cook unable to form a meaningful relationship with a woman, causing problems with his courtship of Jessica Alba. Cook displays genuine comic talent, but the film is little more than a reasonably inoffensive also-ran. (M.S.)

College life in the roaring '20s, when your matriculation consisted of massive chorus lines, smooching with June Allyson and bopping the Varsity Drag.
