I Love You Phillip Morris
Released: 2009
Rated: R

Jim Carrey plays a real-life gay con man who finds love in prison with Ewan McGregor in this archly comic character study. It’s a high concept full of laughs – the uneasy kind rather than guffaws. (K.V.)
I Love You, Beth Cooper
Released: 2009
Rated: PG-13
Now Playing? No
A cliched and miscast teen comedy about a high school nerd (Paul Rust) hopelessly in love with a leggy blond (Hayden Panettiere). (M.S.)
I Love You, Man
Released: 2009
Rated: R
Now Playing? No
Paul Rudd is likable enough as a guy who goes on a series of man-dates to find a best man for his wedding. We get the usual sweet scenes of male camaraderie spiked by moments of bodily outlandishness, but I couldn't shake the sense that the whole thing felt compulsory. (J.R.)
I Make Pictures for What Hollywood Spends on Lipstick
Released: 2004
Rated: NR
Now Playing? No
I Married A Communist
Released: 1949
Rated:
Now Playing? No
A flabbergastingly super patriotic melodrama about "fellow traveling" in the bedroom. For several years this script was used by RKO head Howard Hughes as an ideological litmus test; directors who refused to do it (and over a dozen did, including Joseph Losey and Nicholas Ray) were usually fired. The brave soul who finally accepted, Robert Stevenson, later abandoned dialectical materialism for Flubber and became the wheel-horse of the Disney Studio, making The Absent-Minded Professor, Mary Poppins and The Love Bug. (M.W.)
I Never Promised You A Rose Garden
Released: 1978
Rated:

Kathy Quinlan was the sassy little redhead, Peg, who piquant putdown of Ronny Howard - "Joe College strikes out!" - was one of my favorite movements in "American Graffiti." Here, she pulls off a tour-de-force: a harrowing evocation of schizophrenia, from the inside-out. In the central role of Hannah Green's semi-autobiographical portrayal of life in a mental institution. This is an intelligent film: intelligently written, well-acted - sometimes brilliantly acted - but it's lacking a vital element somewhere. It just misses.
I Not Stupid
Released: 2002
Rated: NR

I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry
Released: 2007
Rated: PG-13

In this contrived comedy, two manly Brooklyn firemen (Adam Sandler, Kevin James) marry each other for the insurance benefits. It turns from wild farce to heavy-handed gay-agenda statement. (T.B.)
I Remember Mama
Released: 1948

One of George Stevens' best - warm, glowing nostalgia about an immigrant Norwegian family in prewar San Francisco; based on the play by John Van Druten.
I Saw the Devil

I Saw The Whole Thing
Released: 1962
Rated:

One of the 19 short films Hitchcock directed for TV between 1955 and 1962. This one is on Hitch's most frequent, obsessive subject; the man wrongly accused of a crime. It's less a thriller than a moral demonstration, as we see, step by step, how "eyewitness" identification can go horribly astray. Hitchcock's TV work is rarely mentioned by critics and almost never included in his filmography's, though some of them - like Breakdown, Four o'clock and Lamb To The Slaughter - rank with his very best work. And in some senses you can see more of Hitchcock in these short films than in his features: his dry British wit, for example, rarely obvious in his full-length movies, but markedly so in his many TV adaptations of short stories by John Collier or Ronald Dahl. Any movie lover should watch carefully for those films, most of which were originally broadcast on "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" or "Suspense." They are Revenge Breakdown, The Case of Mr. Pelham, Back for Christmas, Wet Saturday, Mr. Blanchard's Secret, One More Mile To Go, Four o'clock, The Perfect Crime, Lamb To The Slaughter, Dip In The Pool, Banquo's Chair, Arthur, The Crystal Trench, Incident At A Corner, Mrs. Bixby and The Colonel's Coat, The Horseplayer, Bang! You're Dead and I Saw The Whole Thing.
I Saw What You Did
Released: 1965
Rated:

Two kids, playing pranks on the phone, accidentally dial a murderer, fresh from the kill. They tell him "I saw what you did, and I know who you are..." You take it from there. Good idea, done in William Castle's usual genial, slapdash manner.
I Sent A Letter To My Love

Romance deferred by siblings who grow old together; by the writer-director of Madame Ross.(M.W.)
I Served the King of England

Rated: R

The hero of this Czech film wants to be rich, own his own hotel and bed as many women as possible, but when the Munich Pact is signed and Czechoslovakia is handed over to the Nazis, all the lavishness becomes the decor for despotic militarism. For all its fairy-tale whimsicality and Amélie-like charm, this is a remarkably cynical, misguided and, ultimately, confusing look into the world of the European aristocracy in the first half of the 20th century. (J.R.)

Five young men dream of success as they drift lazily through life in a small Italian village. Fausto (Franco Fabrizi), the group's leader, is a womanizer; Riccardo craves fame; Alberto (Alberto Sordi) is a hopeless dreamer; Moraldo (Franco Interlenghi) fantasizes about life in the city; and Leopoldo (Leopoldo Trieste) is an aspiring playwright. I Walk Alone
Released: 1947
Rated:

Strong film noir about an ex-con who gets the royal shaft from his now-prosperous partners. As the silkenly sadistic heavy, Kirk Douglas is perfect: by the end of the movie you'll not only want to watch him die, you'll want to watch him suffer.
I Walked With A Zombie
Released: 1943

Zombies, voodoo spells and the walking dead on a "Caribbean isle. Elegant tensely poetic, dreamy and mesmerizing - the story is really Bronte's Jane Eyre transplanted to the South Seas. Many connoisseurs rank this film first among all the legendary Val Lewton Unit horror movies.

I Was A Male War Bride

Howard Hawk's personal favorite of all his comedies: the maddening experiences of Lt. Henri Rochard, who falls in love with an American WAC, marries her, and then - stranded in red tape - is continually prevented from climbing into bed with her. Ultimately, he must accompany her back to America as her "war bride" in full drag. A devastating satire on military bureaucracy and American sex roles; incredibly, it was based on fact.

And lycanthropy once more, transposed to the era of Elvis, hubcaps, duck's-ass haircuts and James Dean's ghost. Waaooo....
