Black psychiatrist is assigned to ferret out the demons of a young fascist and psychopath; inevitably, they move toward crisis and confrontation. Bizarre and engrossing, with no punches pulled (at least by 1962 standards) and extravagantly arty monochrome cinematography. A good underrated show. (M.W.)

Priceless
Released: 2006
Rated: PG-13

It’s another one of those light French comedies, starring Audrey Tautou as a gold digger looking for her next strike along the Côte d’Azur and Gad Elmaleh as the fancy-hotel bartender she mistakes for a player. A skilled comedian, Elmaleh’s the best thing about the movie, which never quite hits the swanky/frothy tone it’s aiming for. (K.W.)
Pride
Released: 2007
Rated: PG

Terrence Howard stars in the true story of a man who turned an abandoned community center in a hopeless community into a nationally respected swimming program. Itâ??s a by-the-book sports film awash in inspirational messages. (J.R.)
Pride & Prejudice

Pride and Glory
Released: 2008
Rated: R
Now Playing? No
Suffering from a bad case of those NYPD blues, Pride and Glory stars Colin Ferrell as a dirty cop and Edward Norton as a police investigator who must choose between family and honor. Jon Voight gets off some nice line readings as a police chief of the Old School, but Ferrell doesn’t seem to know the difference between emotion and emoting, and Norton (like the movie) doesn’t show us anything new. (K.W.)
Pride and Prejudice

Pride of the Marines

Priest

An ex-soldier (Paul Bettany) tracks a girl who’s been captured by vampires. Bettany exudes intensity, but most of the movie is given over to battle sequences that lack much ingenuity or narrative drive. (M.B.)

Shane Carruth's intriguing swipe at do-it-yourself sci-fi features a pair of industrial engineers who create a machine in the garage that's capable of transporting them several hours into the past. This paranoid thriller's pleasure has less to do with intricate plot twists than with the furnishing of its time-travel labyrinth. (K.W.)

Slicked-up portrait of the Borgias from Samuel Shellabarger's bestseller. This is one of the movies - The Black Rose was another - on which Orson Welles spirited away costumes and set materials for his "outlaw" production of Macbeth and Othello.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Released: 2010
Rated: PG-13

Jake Gyllenhaal is a Persian prince framed for murder in this entertaining, family-friendly, videogame-derived throwback to Hollywood’s sword-and-sandals epics. The plotting is logic-free, but you can count on explosive set-pieces to divert imminent boredom. (M.S.)

John Derek, the multitalented creator of Bo Derek's Bolero, Tarzan and other mind-boggling effusions, back when he was simply a mediocre actor.
Prince of the City
Released: 1981
Rated:

The savage downfall of the NYPD's crack narcotics unit; based on the memoirs of Detective Robert Leuci, who informed on his friends - making a decision of conscience and suffering the tortures of the damned for it. An ultimate New York city movie by perhaps the ultimate New York City director. Sidney Lumet - grim as a Bowery street littered with Four Roses bottles and human refuse; exciting and nerve-rattling as a ride through Harlem on the IRT; sentimental and violent as Little Italy in full, riotous bloom; gray as the sky over George Washington Bridge.
