A sensational slander trial involving a Polish doctor accused of Nazi collaboration and an obsessive journalist. Based on the Leon Uris best seller, this is the movie that inaugurated the American "miniseries" TV-novel genre, it's still considered one of the best of them.
Quantum of Solace
Released: 2008
Rated: PG-13
Now Playing? No
James Bond (Daniel Craig, with charisma and exquisitely thuggish charm) pursues a below-the-law shadow vendetta as Judi Dench's M becomes increasingly paranoid about the mysterious "Quantum" group. Quantum delivers the goods in bloody high style: explosively, sexily and with 007 shaken (not stirred) to his icy core. (M.S.)
Quarantine
Released: 2008
Rated: R
Now Playing? No
Firefighters, a newswoman and a cameraman are sealed inside a curiously ornate Los Angeles apartment building in this horror thriller, which comes off as an un-funhouse mirror image of Night of the Living Dead, with the zombies barricaded inside with you. For much of the time, the film cleverly ratchets up the dread level via an series of ill-lit, jittery encounters between the drooly, growly infected and their soon-to-be drooly victims. (M.S.)
Quartet
Released: 2012
Rated: PG-13

In Dustin Hoffman’s directorial debut, an opera diva (Maggie Smith) creates a stir when she moves into the same retirement home as her former husband (Tom Courtenay). Nearly every potential conflict begins with a moment of drama and quickly plummets into a state of stasis, leaving viewers to admire the bucolic scenery. (S.R.)

Greta Garbo's portrayal of the strong willed Swedish monarch who abdicates and sails off across the boundless ocean (in one of cinema's most famous and dramatic last shots) is one of two that define her mature screen image (the other is the neurasthenic, reclusive prima donna in Grand Hotel). It's directed by Rouben Mamoulian with lustrous theatricality, and features the last major romantic role for her co-star, John Gilbert (on whom she insisted, and whose career was doomed less because his voice squeaked than because he drank and clashed with his bosses). The movie is full of gleaming pomp; grand, glacial rhythms; and the sort of ersatz royal pleasure the old studio system could excel in.
Queen of the Stardust Ballroom

Marty-style romance - with a quasi-Roseland backdrop - between a widow and a mailman. (M.W.)
Queen of the Sun: What Are the Bees Telling Us?
Released: 2010

This documentary examines colony collapse disorder, which is causing millions of bees to disappear. The subject matter is grave, but the execution is chaotic and silly. (K.B.)
Queen to Play

A hotel maid (Sandrine Bonnaire) teaches herself chess, and the game develops into an overriding passion. Superlative performances and a restrained directorial touch elevate this French drama from a schematic outline into a compelling story. (M.B.)

Eighty thousand years ago, a band of wandering Neanderthals, nearly wiped out by hostile apemen, find themselves stranded in the marshland without their breed's most precious commodity: fire. Undaunted, three plucky Eoliths strike out for the territory ahead (in this case, sections of the Canadian, Kenyan and Scottish wilds), pledged to bring back the flame. A classy production, full of "tone" (Anthony Burgess devised the Eoliths; spoken language, and anthropologist Desmond Morris their body gestures), which squeezes much bizarre charm out of its sophisticated views of primitive culture.
