The Messengers
Released: 2007
Rated: PG-13
Now Playing? No
The latest attempt to transplant Asian-horror techniques onto American soil lacks the atmosphere of dread weâ??ve come to expect after The Ring and The Grudge. Dylan McDermott and Penelope Ann Miller play a Chicago couple who drag their teenage kids to the hinterlands so that Dad can grow sunflowers, but itâ??s not long before the younger members of the family start seeing dead people. (K.W.)
The Mexican
Released: 2001
Rated: R
Now Playing? No
The Mexican doesnâ??t exactly inspire deep thought. But itâ??s a pleasant waste of time, thanks mostly to Pitt.
The Midnight Drives

The Mighty
Released: 1998

I never got around to seeing Simon Birch. I must have always had something better to do that day, like drive nails into my eyeballs.
The Mighty Macs
Released: 2009
Rated: G
Now Playing? No
So few are the inspirational sports movies for girls that this formulaic drama about an underdog basketball team from a Catholic college can be forgiven any sins. As real-life coach Cathy Rush, Carla Gugino energizes the film with every step of her self-assured stride. (M.B.)
The Mikado
Released: 1939
Rated:
Now Playing? No
Gilbert and Sullivan's Oriental operetta - a slice of the old Nanki-Poo - done in a pleasant, music-hallish sort of way. Martyn Green is from the D'Oyly Carte, but Kenny Baker is an American crooner, and director Victor Schertzinger piloted the first two Crosby-Hope "Road" pictures.
The Milkman
Released: 1951
Rated:
Now Playing? No
Amorous milkmen dally in the dairy. This movie is a sleeper pick by Dave Wagner, the last good cultural critic employed at MNI. (M.W.)
The Millionairess
Released: 1970
Rated:
Now Playing? No
The conflict of love and honor, pulchritude and principle; based on the Shaw play. (M.W.)

The Miracle of Morgan's Creek
Released: 1944
Rated:

Preston Sturges' fantastic W.W.II home front comedy about a fervently patriotic small town, a hapless swain named Norval and the irrepressible Trudy Kockenlocker, who's been knocked up by an errant GI she remembers only as "Private Ratsky-Watsky." Incredible, audacious wacked-out, totally irreverent. One big question: How in the world did Sturges get away with it?
The Miracle Seller
Released: 2009
Rated: NR
Now Playing? No
The Miracle Worker
Released: 1962
Rated:
Now Playing? No
Helen Keller, blind and deaf, sealed into a world of terrors and confusion it seems no one can penetrate; Annie Sullivan, her strong-willed, ruthless, passionately determined teacher. Films on subjects like this tend to be saccharine, false; in contrast, The Miracle Worker is a powerhouse -- so strong and vivid, it actually does inspire you. (M.W.)
The Mirror
Released: 2002
Rated:

The Mirror Crack'd
Released: 1980
Rated:
Now Playing? No
A murder in movieland is cracked by the intrepid spinster-sleuth, Miss Marple (here played - in perhaps a dry run for "Murder, She Wrote" - by Angela Lansbury). The fun is supposedly in the self-parodying presence of actual '50s superstars (Taylor, Hudson, Novak, Curtis); the script is by Barry Sandler (Making Love, Crimes of Passion).
The Misfits
Released: 1961
Rated:
Now Playing? No
Arthur Miller intended this screenplay - a fable of love, the pursuit of wild horses, alienation and the preciousness of life - as a love offering for his then-wife, Marilyn Monroe. Her role, a divorcee who falls among a band of Reno cowboys, was intended to incarnate the life force, beauty, Nature itself. But while the cameras rolled, Marilyn was destroying herself with pills, Clark Gable was edging nearer his fatal heart attack and Monty Clift was preparing his own last plunge down the cliffs of self-abuse. The misfits now seems haunted with death. (M.W.)

Boss Lung (Ko Hung) knows that someone in the Hong Kong Triad wants him dead. After a botched assassination nearly takes his life, he orders his right-hand man to recruit a group of expert bodyguards (Anthony Wong, Francis Ng, Roy Cheung, Lam Suet, Jackie Lui) to protect him from any further attacks. The hired gunmen quickly form a brotherhood, but their loyalty is tested when Lung discovers that one of them is having an affair with his wife, and he orders the others to kill him.
The Mist
Released: 2007
Rated: R
Now Playing? No
In this Stephen King tale, a freak storm unleashes bloodthirsty creatures on a small Maine town. It’s an old-fashioned scary movie that, when not too preachy, features magnificent scenes with the stunningly crafted beasties. (M.B.)
The Mod Squad

Juvenile delinquents who wound up in jail are granted a reprieve by Dennis Farina's Captain Greer and they're soon back out on the street, working as undercover cops.
The Model and the Marriage Broker
Released: 1951
Rated:

Ninotchka's scenarist (minus Billy Wilder) hand George Cukor another of the 1948-1954 cycle of Manhattan romantic comedies which probably (with his '30s literary and stage adaptations) comprise his best work.
The Molly Maguires
Released: 1970
Rated:

Somber chronicle of a Pinkerton detective who infiltrates a notorious Irish-American "secret society" of nine workers in the late 19th century. (M.W.)
The Money Trap
Released: 1966
Rated:

Interesting low-rent updating of the Hammett-Chandler genre. (M.W.)
The Monster of Phantom Lake
Released: 2006
Rated: NR

The Monte Carlo Story
Released: 1957
Rated:
Now Playing? No
The casino courtship, in glittering Monte Carlo, of two compulsive gamblers. Interestingly, Vittorio DeSica was a compulsive gambler off screen as well, and he blamed his gambling and consequent debts for his paucity of films in the Shoestring Bicycle Thieves mode. (M.W.)
The Monuments Men
Released: 2014
Rated: PG-13
Now Playing? No
A motley group of World War II soldiers (George Clooney, Bill Murray, Matt Damon) must rescue art masterpieces from Nazi thieves. The movie's loaded with great scenes, terrific performances and a nice blend of suspense and comedy, but it feels like a set of vignettes rather than a cohesive story. (L.B.)
The Moon Is Blue
Released: 1953
Rated: NR
Now Playing? No
A restored print of Otto Premingerâ??s 1953 film, whose racy story of a young girl and her two lovers challenged Hollywood censorship.
