The star-crossed affair of Lady Emma Hamilton and Lord Horatio Nelson. Winston Churchill himself suggested the project and is rumored to have ghosted part of the script.

That's My Boy
Released: 2012
Rated: R
Now Playing? No
Adam Sandler is clearly having a good time as the loutish father of a son (Andy Samberg) he hasn't seen for years. I let loose with several hearty laughs, but the film is bloated and favors corny, sentimental resolutions. (M.B.)
The 11th Hour
Released: 2007
Rated: PG

Narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio, this excellent documentary explores the worldwide effects of global warming. It could use a bit more outrage, but it’s well constructed and full of expert testimony from the scientific community and elsewhere. (M.S.)

The 49th Parallel
Released: 1941
Rated:
Now Playing? No
A tight little band of downed Nazi airmen trek across Canada, finding pockets of patriotism everywhere. Essentially a wartime propaganda blood-thumper, but the cast is all-star, and the director is Michael Powell (The Red Shores, The Thief of Baghdad, Peeping Tom), who really can get your blood thumping. (M.W.)
The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T
Released: 1953
Rated:
Now Playing? No
Dr. Seuss' mind boggling Freudian fantasy about the mad piano teacher, Dr. Terwilliger, who imprisons 500 hapless kids in his rococo castle and torture dungeon forcing them to participate in the grand performance of his inane composition, "Ten Happy Fingers." Pitting the evil Dr. T.: a reluctantly heroic plumber named Zabladowski and Bartholomew Collins, who just wants to rescue his mother and play baseball. This is a true "cult" movie -- nobody who's seen it has ever forgotten it, and all the recollections are pleasant ones. Unfortunately, it was a children's movie which scared kids almost senseless, and therefore it never achieved brisk financial returns or "classic" status.
The 6th Day
Released:
Rated: PG-13

The A-Team
Released: 2010
Rated: PG-13
Now Playing? No
Liam Neeson and Bradley Cooper star in a remake of the '80s TV show about a renegade group of former Army Rangers. The action set pieces are fun even as narrative logic and spatial coherence fly out the window. (K.J.)
The Abandoned
Released: 2006
Rated: R

Spooky things happen when a woman returns to a family farm in her native Russia. The film offers genuinely creepy atmosphere but suffers from an anemic story line. (M.S.)

...who of course, invents the ineffable "flubber," with predictable daffy results(flying flivvers, leaping balls, etc.). An okay fantasy-comedy, but, sadly, the success of this film and "the Shaggy Dog" may have irrevocable swerved the Disney Studio away from animation and into live-action movies.(M.W.)
The Acid House

Rated:

The Act of Killing
Released: 2012
Rated: NR

Indonesian death-squad leaders gleefully reenact the mass killings they ordered in their choice of cinematic genres in this unusual documentary. Many scenes seem to trivialize the atrocities these men have purportedly committed. (K.B.)

Phyllis Diller tries her hand at the classics-in this case, Elmer Rice's expressionist play from the '30's about the perils of automation.
The Adjustment Bureau

Rated: PG-13
Now Playing? No
A U.S. Senate candidate (Matt Damon) stumbles upon the work of supernatural "case workers" tasked with steering people back to the plans set out for them. What might have simply been a tight genre thriller is an ambitious, efficient love story and a meditation on the nature of free will. (S.R.)
