The Pink Panther 2

Rated: PG
Now Playing? No
This time Inspector Clouseau (Steve Martin) is part of a dream team of investigators tracking down an international superthief. Martin has sucked all the wit out of Clouseau, falling down stairs and speaking in a ridiculous French accent in a sequel to a remake no one ever wanted. (J.R.)
The Pink Panther Strikes Again
Released: 1976
Rated:
Now Playing? No
The Inspector Clouseau-Dreyfus feud escalates to cosmis proportions when the distraught commissioner escapes from the lunatic asylum and determines to exterminate his bumbling nemesis, even if it means destroying the entire world as well. In its original uncut, three-hour form, this movie was said to be not only the funniest of the Clouseau movies, but one of the funniest of all movies, period. (most of the out takes turned up in The Trail of The Pink Panther, released after Peter Sellers' death.) It is, however, funny enough, and among the finest hours for Sellers, Blake Edwards and Herbert Lom.
The Pirate
Released: 1948
Rated: NR
Now Playing? No
One of the very best of all the Arthur Freed - MGM musicals: a mad, arch, colorful fantasy in which ladykiller Kelly disguises himself as the infamous "Mack the Black" - a dashing pirate a la Doug Fairbanks, Sr. - to woo a reluctant Garland. This is the least saccharine - and in some ways, the cruelest - of all the Freed movies; but it also has a wistfulness that reminds you at times of Children of Paradise. A musical for aficionados. (M.W.)
The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: A Veggie Tales Movie
Released: 2008
Rated: G
Now Playing? No
The faith-based animated vegetables rescue a royal family from a tyrant. There’s just enough action and humor to entertain the young ’uns without insulting their intelligence. (M.B.)
The Pirates! Band of Misfits
Released: 2012
Rated: PG
Now Playing? No
In this clever, rollicking animated tale from Britain's Aardman Animations, a pirate captain (Hugh Grant) tries to win the Pirate of the Year award that has long eluded him. The jokes are plentiful and sneaky-smart. (S.R.)
The Pirates! Band of Misfits 3D
Released: 2012
Rated: PG
Now Playing? No
In this clever, rollicking animated tale from Britain's Aardman Animations, a pirate captain (Hugh Grant) tries to win the Pirate of the Year award that has long eluded him. Director Peter Lord has a sure hand with action set pieces, and the jokes are plentiful, wonderful and sneaky-smart. (S.R.)
The Pit and the Pendulum
Released: 1961
Rated:
Now Playing? No
Slashing adaptation of Poe's Inquisitorial shocker.
The Place Beyond the Pines
Released: 2012
Rated: R
Now Playing? No
A cash-strapped stuntman (Ryan Gosling) becomes a bank robber to provide for his young child, and an eager cop (Bradley Cooper) tries to put him behind bars. A multigenerational epic, a heist story and a motorcycle-fetish movie all rolled into one, this film proves that director Derek Cianfrance is an emerging auteur. (L.C.)
The Pledge

The Plot to Assassinate Hitler

Robert Zemeckis and Tom Hanks bring motion and emotion to Chris Van Allsburg's story, making it an instant classic on the silver screen.
The Pool
Released: 2007
Rated: NR
Now Playing? No
In Panjim, India, a hotel housekeeper (Venkatesh Chavan) is relentlessly drawn to a gleaming swimming pool, so he insinuates himself into the unhappy family it belongs to. Chris Smith (American Movie, The Yes Men) directs extraordinary performances in this subtle movie about good deeds done for ambiguous reasons. (K.B.)
The Poseidon Adventure
Released: 1972
Rated:
Now Playing? No
Luxury liner strikes and iceberg, flips over on its top. Stunned survivors, mugging frantically, climb their way up to the ship's hull. Crafty, crass producer - Irwin Allen - makes mint and, along with unscrupulous colleagues, inflicts series of increasingly expensive and idiotic disaster movies on public. Moral: Some people can only reach the top by seraping the bottom.
The Possession
Released: 2012
Rated: PG-13
Now Playing? No
A girl (Natasha Calis) becomes obsessed with an antique box containing a spirit that's eager to inhabit a human host. For a horror flick, this film's not terribly predictable -- especially when Hasidic rapper Matisyahu arrives to expel the demon. (M.S.)
The Postman
Released: 1998

The Postman Always Ring Twice
Released: 1980
Rated:
Now Playing? No
The better of the two American versions of James M. Cain's seedy little classic of infidelity, love and murder at a California roadstop; it has more sex and steam and sleaze, which is exactly what the story needs. But the ending is strangely botched, and at times it's all a little too reverent, as if the filmmakers believed Cain were actually Albert Camus. (The best adaptation of Postman remains Luchino Visconti's 1942 Ossessione.
The Postman Always Rings Twice
Released: 1946
Rated:
Now Playing? No
James Cain's corker about lust, lies, liquidation, and loss in a roadside cafe. Not bad, but I prefer the 1981 Rafelson-Nicholson version (forgetting its botched climax), not to mention Visconti's Ossessione.
The Power and the Glory
Released: 1933

The President's Analyst
Released: 1967
Rated:
Now Playing? No
Madly irreverent Second City style sendup of '60s paranoia, spy films, governmental secrecy, the CIA, the FBI et al. Offbeat, very funny.
The President's Plane is Missing
Released: 1971
Rated:
Now Playing? No
A weird plan to overthrow the U.S. and impending nuclear confrontation with China, both averted in predictably tightlipped fashion. Based on the Robert Serling novel.
