Another movie which Bogey hated - possibly because he disliked both Flynn and Randolph Scott, and was cast here as a black-clad, mustachioed Mexican bandido. (M.W.)

Vision: From the Life of Hildegard von Bingen
Released: 2009
Rated: NR
Now Playing? No
Writer/director Margarethe von Trotta and leading lady Barbara Sukowa combine forces to tell the life story of visionary 12th-century nun Hildegard von Bingen, who, within the male-dominated hierarchy of the church, used diplomacy and strategy to achieve her aims. The film is informative and polished, yet it finds no ecstasy – religious or otherwise. (M.B.)
Visions of Eight
Released: 1973
Rated:
Now Playing? No
The 1972 Olympics at Munich filmed by eight first-rank international directors, each of whom concentrates on one specialty. An intriguing offbeat mixture of styles and viewpoints. Kon Ichikawa, who does the Japanese section, had earlier shot the entire 1964 Olympics (at Tokyo) - film regarded as the best on the subject, after Leni Riefenstahl's. The most renowned segments here are Arthur Penn's (on pole vaulting) and John Schlesinger's (on marathon racing and the massacre of the Israeli athletes).

Obviously a match made in heaven; that suave reconteur Jerry Lewis (following in the Broadway footsteps of Cyril Ritchard) firing off the acidly witty salvos of playwright Gore Vidal in this adaptation of Vidal's satire of an arch-extra-terrestrial beset by irrational earthlings. Now, if Jerry will only consent to interpret the fictions of William Buckley and Norman Mailer...

Viva Zapata!
Released: 1952
Rated:

Elia Kazan's personal favorite among his early films (over On the Waterfront, East of Eden, and Streetcar Named Desire) is this lusty, dynamic ode to agrarian rebellion, based, extremely romantically on the career of Emiliano Zapata. Fiery, didactic, and a real actor's showcase.
