When former U.N. investigator Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt) and his family get stuck in urban gridlock, he senses that it's no ordinary traffic jam. His suspicions are confirmed when, suddenly, the city erupts into chaos. A lethal virus, spread through a single bite, is turning healthy people into something vicious, unthinking and feral. As the pandemic threatens to consume humanity, Gerry leads a worldwide search to find the source of the infection and, with luck, a way to halt its spread. (TMS)

Wreck-It Ralph

A bad guy in a vintage arcade game (voiced by John C. Reilly) migrates to a newfangled videogame in an attempt to become a hero. The animators’ imagination shows in some deft visual touches, but it doesn’t yield a genuinely creative way of exploring the idea of consciousness inside a videogame. (S.R.)

In this half-sentimental, half-ironic flight of comic fancy, a suicide (Patrick Fugit) winds up in a dreary purgatory that resembles his life on earth. It’s hard to find fault with the film’s good-natured absurdity, but no amount of quirky characters can make up for its lack of real humor or meaning. (J.R.)

Alcoholism, nymphomania, "infidelity," miscarriages, scandal and death in a Texas city - where oil derricks rise above the dusty, serile plains: where jukeboxes roar and neon blazes across the trucks; where lechery and murder rear their ugly heads at the plush confines of the rich and guilty. The greatest of all the '50s soap operas; passionate, full-blown melodrama handled with cool, sleek mastery by Douglas Sirk, a Danish director who wanted to adapt Checkhov, Faulkner and Thomas Mann but was usually forced to work with scripts out of Lloyd C. Douglas. Fanny Herst and (here) Robert Wilder - but who in his own uncanny way, managed to transform low kitsch into high art. His method; "take the inherent craziness of the material and look it full in the face."
