The organizers of the Wisconsin Film Festival revealed the winners of this year's Steep & Brew audience awards on Thursday, April 25.
Coming of Age, a German-language film about a love affair between two octogenarians, received the prize in the narrative category. It also won an audience award at the Montreal World Film Festival in 2012.
Fest-goers' favorite documentary was Father's Birth, which follows a same-sex couple from Paris who ask a Wisconsin woman to carry their child. A newly struck 35mm print of Manhattan, Woody Allen's beautifully photographed romantic comedy from 1979, took top honors in the restoration category.
More than 26,700 people attended the 2013 festival. Nearly all its screenings, which included about 150 films, sold out in advance.
The next fest is scheduled for the weekend of April 5, 2014. See wifilmfest.org for details.
