Collecting MadVideos: Taking off from Madison
on

Anybody taking off from Madison's airport with a window seat will be familiar with the views in this short video. Taking off on an American Eagle flight, one passenger turns his camera out the window and captures a birds-eye view of the city. Passing over a misty Cherokee Marsh, a blue-green Yahara River, the edges of Waunakee and adjacent farmland, the plane gradually loops to the north, west and then south to fly over the north shore of Lake Mendota, Governor's Island, and the lake itself with the isthmus and lakes Monona, Waubesa and Kegonsa trailing away in the distance. Eventually the plane passes over the southern shore of the lake, with the UW and near west side appearing immediately to the left, and of course, below.

The three-minute takeoff video follows below.

More information about flights to and from Madison are available from the newly renovated, both on site and online, Dane County Regional Airport.

If you wish to let us know about more videos by, of, and about Madison and Madisonians, please consider adding them to the Isthmus YouTube group or send a message.
