Collecting MadVideos -- Motor Primitives rock for Baldwin

Tomorrow marks Election Day, the fall general election for 2006 that is, the most significant time to vote in this four year span between presidential elections. Except for GOTV efforts and candidates' parties, months upon months of campaigning are over, at least for a brief time before the city elections rev up with the approaching new year. Exactly a month ago, though, campaigns were in full swing.

On the last weekend of autumn featuring a live outdoor concert at the Memorial Union terrace, the UW's Students for Tammy Baldwin held a campaign event featuring music from the Motor Primitives, a local band led by Pam Barrett that play's hypen-free rock. A brief segment of their performance was captured posterity on video, one of only a "few movies made of a live Motor Primitives show," Barrett writes.

The brief live concert clip from the Terrace follows below.

Barrett describes the band's "night on the terrace" in detail in a report accompanied by several photos of their performance:

This show was a rally put on by the Students for Tammy Baldwin (a very enthusiastic bunch). We showed up around 7pm to load in. I found the usual crowd of misfits, under the "big trees," dressed for the weather. The temperature had reached a high in the low 60's and was now starting to drop. I had warned everybody that, unless it rained or there was a tornado or a tsunami, we'd be playing outside (temperature was no excuse). Hats, gloves and layers, layers, layers!?

At some point during our set, I commented that we were going to scavenge for abandoned beer pitchers ($1 deposit each) so that we could afford to buy some beer later. Big thanks to those who rose to the call and either bought us beer or found us empties!

We got to play outside on the Terrace (last weekend of the year before they move the music indoors).

Though they have played quite regularly over the recent summer and autumn months, the Motor Primitives currently don't have another live Madison show scheduled until early February 2007. Why? They're busy recording. So this video will have to do.
