Collecting MadVideos -- Pies Gone Wild at Four Star
on

Four Star Video Heaven is a tremendous resource for Madison filmmakers, not only as a deep well of cinematic resources for research and inspiration, but as an actual film location. The Henry Street mainstay was the primary location for Pies Gone Wild, a short film written and directed by Aaron Cohen back in the spring of 2003.

The film was created with an archaic camera: "It was shot on 16 mm film with a very old Bolex camera that was likely left over from the World War II era," explains Ben Cohen, Aaron's brother, who acted in the short. "Needless to say, the camera didn't always cooperate," he notes.

Pies Gone Wild was created to complete a silent film assignment for an advanced production course at the UW. The short film follows below.

"This film was made before most people could even imagine something like YouTube," notes Ben Cohen, "so my brother and I both agree that it is sort of bizarre to see Pies Gone Wild on the Internet."

If you have a video by, of or about Madison and Madisonians, please consider adding it to the Isthmus YouTube group or send a message.
