There are few better ways to kick off a hot summer weekend in Madison than with some beer and music on the Memorial Union Terrace. One visitor to town recently spent some time at this communal backyard, shooting video of the crowds gathered about the stage as the Cork n'Bottle String Band played their Thursday gig in front of the lake.
"Cold beer, bratwurst with mustard, sunshine, geez," urges the bluegrass group, now in their fourth summer of weekly shows at the Union. "See you there."
This two-minute video tour of the Terrace follows below.
The official DVD release for Cork n'Bottle String Band: The Ken's Bar Story will be held at the Orpheum Theater on Saturday, June 2. More details about the documentary can be found in a review by Kenneth Burns, a feature about its creation by Rich Albertoni, and in a sneak preview of the film's opening moments.
