This Dallas rock band is the latest national act to join the stable of artists affiliated with Madison's Crustacean Records.
Loaded is consistent with the overall Crustacean sound. It's hard-driving rock that wears its punk emotions on its sleeve. True to their Texas roots, the Von Ehrics don't shy away from rockabilly guitar jams, as on the hillbilly anthem "Old Chunk of Coal."
Loaded's high-energy tracks are aural diversions from responsibility, even reality. Vocalist Jason Vandygriff has his flirt on during "Buy Me a Drink." The object of his affection isn't just a beautiful woman, but a beautiful woman willing to finance his buzz.
The chord progressions are as simple and true as the Von Ehrics' motives, which are summed up nicely by the title of this CD.
