Madison's fall 2012 concert schedule loves the '90s

Concert announcements are piling up like fall leaves, making this autumn's live-music lineup as colorful as Angela Chase's Crimson Glow hair. If that My So-Called Life reference makes your heart flutter, you'll really enjoy these 1990s-themed treats.

The High Noon Saloon morphs into a time machine Sept. 19, when pop-rock master Matthew Sweet performs Girlfriend, his classic 1991 release, in its entirety. The Capitol Theater experiences a twangy blast from the past Oct. 17, when the Old 97's dust off their 1997 album, Too Far to Care.

Though whistling, fiddling wonder Andrew Bird has been cutting CDs since the mid-1990s, his Sept. 26 gig at Overture Hall will revolve around his new release, Break It Yourself. For a thoroughly modern concertgoing experience, fans can crash a futuristic dance party led by electronica innovator Dan Deacon at the Majestic Theatre Nov. 5, or head to the High Noon Nov. 9 for Stephen Kellogg & the Sixers, who've been rocking for a mere nine years.
