A peppy piece of lovingly produced guitar pop about the bilious side of octagenarian ex-actor/racing team owner?
Maybe it sounds a little out of left field -- after all, other than Champ Car fans and silver-haired women who never got over the dishy bad boy he played in Cool Hand Luke, who's even thinking about Newman these days? -- but, man, if this sugary bit of silliness tune doesn't brighten up a dreary day of mechanical hip-hop remixes and too-cool-for-school indie rock.
The Home Demo Vixens may or may not be a serious act, but they do include some serious players with ties to The Shabelles, The Outtatoons, the Magic Elves and Electric Automatic. I'd guess their enigmatic singing dude also has something to do with a popular local cover band, but I could be way off base there. Anyhow, "PNHY" isn't for sale, but you can download it for free, and the band won't mind at all. That's pretty cool when you think about it.
As for Mr. Newman, how could you ever hate a pretty mug like that?
