Mike Droho is starting a new project with former Profits bandmate Scott Lamps. The Compass Rose also includes Anthony Lamarr and Ida Pajunen. According to their publicist, Shirley Kennedy, the band is "an eclectic mix of orchestral rhythms and acoustic music with a flavor of R&B and hip-hop." Compass Rose opens for Matt White at the Majestic Theatre on Feb. 15.
Remember when cover bands were actually uncool? Here's the latest proof that the tribute scene has become a raging local music trend: The Low Czars (featuring veteran Madison players Bob Koch, James Leaver, Larry Braun, Peter Fatka and Aaron Scholz) will present their take on the 1967 Love album Forever Changes on Feb. 15 at Mickey's Tavern. Forever Changes was the third album by Love, the L.A. psychedelic folk-rock band fronted by the late Arthur Lee.
