The live-music arm of the Wisconsin Union Directorate has announced the summer lineup for the UW-Madison's Memorial Union Terrace. The season kicks off June 9 with Afro Zep, a Chicago project that convenes several times a year to perform Led Zeppelin songs with an Afrobeat twist. Other June highlights inlucde South by Southwest show-stealers Dale Earhardt Jr. Jr. (June 16), Dismemberment Plan offshoot Maritime (June 18) and last year's American Idol winner Lee DeWyze (June 23).
Music fans can celebrate Independence Day on July 2 by watching the Rhythm & Booms fireworks display to the tunes of Smog's Bill Callahan. Epic rockers Battles will bring their brand-new album, Gloss Drop, to the Terrace July 16, while the Madison native of Locksley will return to their stomping grounds on July 28 with songs from their 2010 album Be in Love and, perhaps, a few new power-pop tunes to sate fans' appetites.
