A new poll by the conservative-leaning Wisconsin Policy Research Institute shows that two-thirds of state residents want the governor to compromise with unions and Democrats, 58% oppose his plan to strip public employees of collective bargaining rights, and more than half have a somewhat or strongly negative opinion of him.

Jesse Jackson, Michelle Shocked and Michael Moore appeared here in the last week, and conservatives got a pep talk from their own folk hero, "Joe the Plumber," who analyzed the mindset of public employees: "'I deserve this, I deserve that. I deserve the money in your pocket, sir.' Whatever happened to the word 'earn'?"
