By 10:30 p.m. on Saturday night, city officials and law enforcement were already feeling good about the outcome of the Halloween parties on State Street. Though there were at least three hours remaining in the event, crowds size and arrest numbers were down from last year, something that made some time for a media tour of the city's arrest processing center for the event. This brief tour was led by Madison Mayor Dave Cieslewicz and MPD spokesperson Mike Hanson.
Speaking with The Daily Page before the tour, Mayor Cieslewicz discussed his plans for the rest of the evening, his plans following the event, and his thoughts about the smaller crowd size this year.
Speaking with The Daily Page after the tour, MPD public information officer Mike Hanson discusses differences between this year and last year, the status of the neighborhoods surrounding State Street, and the execution of the police plans.
Both Cieslewicz and Hanson returned to State Street following these interviews.
