For years, people have suspected that retail is slowly vanishing from State Street. As Jay Rath reported in last week’s Isthmus, two new city reports have finally produced some hard data to support those suspicions. Some — including Mayor Paul Soglin — fear that the city’s most famous street is becoming more like a beer garden or a food court. Should the city do anything to try to stop this?
