Landmarks Commission
Monday, July 7, 4:45 p.m.
Room LL-130 of the Madison Municipal Building
A resident is making a last-ditch effort to save the walls of St. Raphael Cathedral, by nominating the fire-damaged ruins for landmark status. The downtown cathedral was destroyed by arson in 2005. How landmark status for the ruins is going to work, exactly, since the city has already issued a demolition permit for the site, is the question. Doesn't help that the citizen's handwritten nomination -- in which he threatens to chain himself to the site -- is incomplete.

Madison Metro presents its year-to-date statistics: As of May 31, it's given rides to nearly 6 million passengers, an increase of 300,000 over this time last year. Hmmm, what could be causing so many more people to get on the bus?
