A mailing from the Republican Party of Wisconsin tying Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama to sixties radical William Ayers arrived in mailboxes of area voters Wednesday.
The flyer, a copy of which can be downloaded at right and is reproduced below, has been met with criticism on TheDailyPage.com's Forum as well as by Madison blogger Emily Mills.
The mailing accompanies automated phone calls, more popularly known as "robocalls," from the Republican Party and John McCain's presidential campaign that attempt to link Obama with Ayers.
Wisconsin G.O.P. spokesperson Kirsten Kukowski defended the mailing to the Associated Press, saying "I guess our goal is to put the information out there and let people make up their own minds."
The mailing and robocalls come in the same week as a poll shows Obama with strong leads in the Big Ten states of Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
