Evil Beaver at The Frequency
Win two tickets to Evil Beaver, Damsel Trash and Donoma at The Frequency on Thursday, July 31! This show is 18 and over. Evil Beaver has continued playing no-nonsense punk metal since 2005's Lick It!, but I still can't get over the idea of an evil beaver, they're just too cute...and yes, I understand the subtext, I just can't picture it, except that wily scamp from the Caddyshack films. Oh, that's a gopher? Well, I take it back then. All beavers are kind.
See How You Are Madison?! at High Noon Saloon
Win two tickets to See How You Are Madison?! with Droids Attack, Knuckel Drager, PowerWagon, Bugatti Type 35, Wheelie King, Zebras and Transformer Lootbag at the High Noon Saloon on Friday, August 1! This show is 21 and over. A celebration of the local band, See How Your Are Madison?! is a who's who of area-based funk & rock outfits all coming home to weird the place out and complain about all the condos eating away at the Madison they once knew and loved.
Run River North at High Noon Saloon
Win two tickets to Run River North, Seasaw and Reverie at the High Noon Saloon on Saturday, August 2! This show is 18 and over. The artists formerly known as Monsters Calling Home, Run River North are probably best known for selling Hondas on Jimmy Kimmel, being mentioned as Asian-American in the first paragraph of anything written about them (I did it too, didn't I? sigggghhhh), and having blindingly perfect cheekbones/vocal harmonies. They seem nice! Support acts Seasaw and Reverie both have chosen names presumably designed to thwart any sort of relevant Googling, so I'm just going to assume that they are jerks that don't like you. Don't tell them I told you.
The Milk Carton Kids at Barrymore Theatre
Win two tickets to see The Milk Carton Kids at the Barrymore Theatre on Thursday, August 7! This show is all ages. Kenneth Pattengale & Joey Ryan make up a band you can be totally confident will sound just as good live, due to both their parsed-down strings & voices style and accomplished musicianship (evident in performances ranging from A Prairie Home Companion to their recent DVD release, Live from Lincoln Theatre). On what seems to be a non-stop tour behind 2013's The Ash & Clay, expect them to induce melancholy-laced sense memories of your exes running through tall grass or snow.
The Mahones at High Noon Saloon
Win two tickets to see The Mahones and Whiskey of the Damned at the High Noon Saloon on Sunday, August 10! This show is 18 and over. St. Patty's day is coming really, really late or early, I guess to the High Noon with two Irish rock bands with fiddles and everything. Nothing better in August than warm, dark beer and pale skin! Sláinte agus táaieeeh!...ooh, it's hot...lemme try again, Sláintggghhsfbasdofsdfsdblech! *thump*
FLINTface at High Noon Saloon
Win two tickets to see FLINTface and Catch Kid at the High Noon Saloon on Tuesday, August 12! This show is 18 and over. FLINTface's Joe Scorsone plays soulful folk rooted in his Christian faith and upbringing as a minister's son. As for his use of capitalization, only God can judge...and everyone else I guess in this case.
