The High Noon Saloon was, appropriately enough, the site of some boisterous fun last Friday when a trio of Madison bands were joined a Colorado bluesman, a whiskey-drenched country duo from Kentucky, and the L.A. pop-punk pioneer Jane Wiedlin. The rhythm guitarist for The Go-Go's was there playing with Whore du Jour, a psychedelic garage quintet launched last year in Madison by two members of The Skintones.
Guitar players in both local groups, Travis Kasperbauer and Pete Ress met Wiedlin this June in Sturgeon Bay during the Steel Bridge SongFest, swiftly developing a collaboration that includes not only a series of live performances this summer, but plans for assisting one another with recording their upcoming albums.
After playing on their own, Whore du Jour were joined by Wiedlin for a series of songs that included The Go-Go's 1982 hit "Vacation." A live concert video of this performance follows, along with several others from the show.
