Only weeks after presenting its third annual awards show is taking another step in building community awareness and promoting its slate of local programming. The station has just released five promotional spots highlighting the breadth of homegrown TV and opportunities for creating your own programming, all now available online for viewing.
The longest of the five is titled "Opera" and features old-time country singer and WYOU show host station programming, including The Splu Urtaf Show, performances by the Capitol City Band, HerbTV, and DW's Show.
All five promos follow below, including the trailer-length version set to the aria "Habanera" from Georges Bizet's Carmen.
The other four WYOU promos feature introductions from Sankulay Jallow of Music from SeneGambia (here) and Craig Meyer of Mind Shock (here), a clip of a Charlie Chaplin film highlighting its airing of public domain movies (here), and a jazzy invitation for viewers to get involved with the station (here). WYOU is "one of Madison's best-kept secrets," declares Walker in the 90-second spot, a status its array of staff and volunteers are clearly hoping to change.
