The Ghost Writer: Ewan McGregor is hired to write the memoirs of a former British Prime Minister (Pierce Brosnan) in Roman Polanski's political mystery thriller. There isn't the complexity or breadth of such stunners as Chinatown or The Pianist, but this is a solidly crafted little roundelay of intrigue with a veracity that seems torn from newspaper headlines.

Kick-Ass: A superhero fan (Aaron Johnson) decides to start living the hero life, then draws the attention of two real superheroes (Chloe Moretz, Nicolas Cage). Technically pretty kick-ass, but not all that much fun.
