MadTracks: "Invoice" by Building on Buildings

The past few years have seen the rise of several strong female indie vocalists. With Kate Crutchfield of Waxahatchee, Francis Quinlan of Hop Along, Laura Stevenson of Laura Stevenson & the Cans and Monica Martin of local faves PHOX steadily ascending into the limelight, more and more groups are trying to harness the power behind female singers and lyricists. Brooklyn's Oberhofer brought their untraditional take on pop music to the Memorial Union Terrace last Thursday evening, kicking off a tour of the U.S. and Canada. They describe themselves as a "coincidental pop" band, drawing influences from chance encounters and an underlying sense of uncertainty.
