More Information:
University of Wisconsin System President Kevin P. Reilly today announced four finalists for the position of chancellor at UW-Madison. A 25-member search and screen committee, chaired by Professor David McDonald, from UW-Madison's History Department, recommended the slate of finalists to Reilly and a special committee of the UW System Board of Regents chaired by Regent Charles Pruitt of Milwaukee. Finalists (in alphabetical order):

Dr. Rebecca M. Blank
Acting Secretary of Commerce
United States Department of Commerce, Washington, D.C.

Dr. Nicholas P. Jones
Benjamin T. Rome Dean, Whiting School of Engineering
The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD

Dr. Michael H. Schill
Dean and Harry N. Wyatt Professor of Law and Professor in the College
University of Chicago Law School, Chicago, IL

Dr. Kim A. Wilcox
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI

The four candidates will participate in a series of public forums between March 5 and March 13, offering opportunities for faculty, staff, students, and community members to interact directly with the finalists. The campus search and screen committee will post a schedule for those public conversations on its website.

Reilly and the special Regent committee will interview the finalists on March 15. Along with Regent Pruitt, committee members include Regent Regina Millner of Madison, Regent President Brent Smith of La Crosse, Regent David Walsh of Madison, and Student Regent Katherine Pointer of UW-Madison. They will recommend one candidate to the full Board of Regents, which must approve the appointment. The person selected through this process will succeed UW-Madison Interim Chancellor David Ward, who has served since July 2011.

Public reception dates have been announced for each candidate. All receptions will be held from 1:30-3 p.m. on the day of the candidate's visit. All receptions will be held in the Mead Witter Lobby at the Chazen Museum of Art.

Nicholas P. Jones: Tuesday, March 5
Michael H. Schill: Thursday, March 7
Kim A. Wilcox: Monday, March 11
Rebecca M. Blank: Wednesday, March 13
