Another candidate has emerged for the Common Council seat currently occupied by Ald. Bryon Eagon. Scott Resnick, the president of the State-Langdon Association, announced his candidacy to represent the student-dominated 8th district, which includes parts of downtown and much of the UW campus.
Resnick is a partner at a start-up tech firm in Madison and has been active in Democratic politics in recent years. Above all else, however, he is a pragmatist and a city policy wonk --an image that stands in stark contrast to the devoutly leftist and inflammatory Kyle Szarzynski, the only other declared candidate at this time. Resnick emphasized the message of cooperation in his announcement:
"Cooperation is essential. During my time as President of State-Langdon, I successfully collaborated with local business owners, potential developers and other political organizations without sacrificing the core principles of the neighborhood association. My leadership style is to eliminate adversity and create an open dialogue among community members in the neighborhood."
